One customer came in with a seized engine on their lawn mower. It had run for years without problems and he always added 2 stroke oil to the fuel without exception. This was a pitty as it was a 4 stroke engine! If only he had read the instruction book and checked the crankcase oil.

From John in Wolverhampton. It seems the father of one of his workshop colleagues, was restoring an old mini in the process he had the petrol tank out while body work repair was done. A dropped component bounced of the bench and into the mouth of the tank. He tried various ways to fish it out but all failed. So he then stuck the hose from a vacuum cleaner into the tank with the idea of sucking out the troublesome part. Unfortunately the tank was not completely empty of fuel, as he thought, so for a few brief seconds he had the world's first rocket power vacuum cleaner, followed by very loud bang as the cleaner then exploded.
